Smart Plugs & LEDs

Smart Plugs

Did you know that even when your appliances are in stand-by mode, they still consume energy? Using smart plugs is an easy way to reduce your energy bills since smart plugs automatically turn your devices off when you’re not using them. It’s as simple as that!

A smart plug allows you to turn on and off your appliances from an app on your smartphone. You can turn appliances on (or off) remotely or schedule appliances to be turned on (or off) at certain times. By simply installing smart plugs around your home, you can save a tremendous amount on your energy bill.

95% of the energy in LED lightbulbs is converted into light and only 5% is wasted as heat. In traditional fluorescent lightbulbs, the exact opposite occurs – 95% of the energy is wasted as heat and only 5% is converted into light. LEDs also draw less power – a 84 watt fluorescent bulb can be replaced by a 36 watt LED for the same distribution of light.

Not only do LEDs draw less power, LEDs shine light in only one direction. Traditional lighting emits light in all directions, usually illuminating areas of the room that don’t need light (for example, the ceiling). This efficiency means that you don’t need as many LED lights in a room to provide the same level of brightness.

Finally, LEDs lightbulbs have an incredibly long life span. They last up to 6 times longer than traditional fluorescent bulbs.

When you switch to LEDs, you:

  • Improve the energy efficiency of your home or business
  • Eliminate energy waste
  • Reduce the number of bulbs you need in your home or business
  • Reduce the frequency of replacing bulbs

Our Testimonials

Joseph T. McDonald, Jr.

Solar 64 has completed two photo-voltaic projects for our company; one in Connecticut and one in New York. As expected, they successfully managed all municipal and regulatory requirements, with very little effort required on our part. The projects were completed as promised, the installers worked 'clean', and any follow-up items have been addressed quickly and professionally. If we pursue future solar projects, 64 Solar will clearly be at the top of our list.
